Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Bangor, Maine!
Greater Bangor, in the Maine Highlands and known for brilliant fall foliage, has abundant cultural and outdoor recreation opportunities, many stemming from Paul Bunyan days as the "Lumber Capital of the World." Museums, shops, and theaters provide diverse alternatives to great outdoors adventure on the water or on myriad hiking and biking trails both inside and near the city. Special events include the American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront in August, and attractions include the Maine Air Museum, Maine Discovery Museum, and both the Moosehead Marine Museum and the Penobscot Marine museum. Bangor is also home to horror novelist Stephen King. As a Maine native who started writing early on, King once published -- although not without repercussion -- a parody of his high school paper called the Village Vomit. Now in summer and fall, Tommyknockers & More Bus Tours showcase Bangor as seen through the books of King, with sites including "Sematary," where "Ellie saw the 'Skinny Santa'," and the Barrens. From cozy bake shops to pubs and lakeside inns, Bangor eateries provide diverse dining opportunities. Accommodations range from bed and breakfasts to cottages, lodges, motels and hotels.
